Repacking of bulk items in Retails POS

Repacking is the process of repacking the bulk items to create the repackage items. Created repackage items moved to sales.

Business rules

  • Repacking involves two different preparation type products
    • Bulk – The items which is purchase in bulk and repacked in to small packets in different conversion to make saleable products. (Ex:- sugar 50kg bag purchased in store)
    • Repackage – The packed items from the bulk items called repackage items. (Ex:- sugar 1kg, sugar 500gms & sugar 2kg is repacked from the bulk items to sale at POS)
  • Once the Bulk items & Repack items created and Bulk item stock received through GRN or Opening stock, then only we can do repacking entry
  • Once the repacking done, the stock of the bulk items should be reduced and repackage items stock will be increased.

Bulk & Repack Item creation

Most of the businesses purchases few products like sugar, rice, dals in bulk at warehouse and packed them in small pockets like 1kg, 2kg,.. etc for to sale at POS. The purchased item in bulk is called bulk item and the packed items from the bulk item is called repack items.

Business rules

  • There is a menu called item master under inventory master module, user should go to that screen to create the bulk & repack items.
  • To create the bulk items, user should select the preparation status of creating item as “bulk” from the drop down list.
  • Once the preparation status bulk is selected, user should enter the conversion in grams. Example 1000. For every bulk items the conversion in grams must be 1000 for better stock tracking of the bulk items.
  • To create the repacking items, user should select the preparation status as “repackage” from the drop down list.
  • Once preparation status is selected, then user should select the “bulk item name” to map from which bulk item, the creating repack items are made.
  • Also for repacking items, user should enter the conversion in grams. The conversion value must be equal to the repack item’s weight. Ex for 2 kg sugar repack items, conversion in grams must be 2000.
  • Once both bulk and repack items are created, then once the stock of bulk items is increased through GRN or ant other stock inward process, then user can do repack entry of repackage items.
  • Preparation status of items will not be changed if any transaction is made.
  • So while creating the bulk & Repackage items, user should enter the preparation status correctly.

Repacking of bulk items

Once the stock of bulk items are increased, user will make repack entry.

Business rules

  • There is a menu called repack under inventory module, user should open repacking screen to do repack entry.
  • After that user should select the repackage items for repacking.
  • Once repackage items are selected then bulk item details should be shown automatically with current stock for repacking.
  • Then user will enter repacking qty of each loaded repackage items in line item details.
  • For every repackage items, the price will be auto loaded based on the conversion and also it should be editable, so user will update new price to repacking items.
  • Once the repacking qty is entered stock of the bulk items get deducted based on repackage qty
  • After entering all the required details save repacking entry by clicking on the function key called “Save”.
  • Once saved repacking number will get generated. Also repackage items stock get increased by given qty.
  • In this screen, only the repackage preparation status items will be loaded to select.
  • Both repackage and bulk items should displayed in POS transactions screen.
  • System should ask permission to load all the repacked items in barcode entry screen to bulk print the barcode for repacking items.
  • Repacked details will be viewed by using the function key called “view”.
  • Repacked details will be edited by using the function key called “edit”. Editing of repacked items is not possible if sales entry made for repackage items.
  • If user wants to edit the repacked details then user should cancel the sales bill.
  • System should load all the repacking items in purchase entry screen when the bulk item’s rate is changed, so user will update the new repack item’s prices.
